Puréed Carrots for Baby
Making baby food is so simple – isn’t it comforting to know
exactly what your little one is eating?
Makes about 2 cups purée
1 pound carrots, peeled and trimmed, cut into ½-inch slices
1. Put sliced carrots into a steamer basket and place in a saucepan filled with at
least 1 inch of water. Place the pan with a tightfitting lid over high heat. Once
the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to medium. Steam carrots for at
least 45 minutes, until they are completely soft.
2. Put steamed carrots with 1 cup of steaming liquid into the blender jar fitted
with the blending blade. Pulse carrots on low 5 times and then run on low for
about 45 seconds. Scrape jar down with a spatula and blend for an additional
20 seconds. If a smoother consistency is desired, pulse in
1 tablespoon of cooking liquid at a time to the purée.

or serve immediately. Baby food should be consumed within 2 to 3 days if not
freezing.
